For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:4

Meet our Pastor

Wayne Matheson Pastor

My name is Wayne Matheson, and I am excited about this new ministry in which God has allowed me to be a part. I would like to tell you briefly how I came to know Jesus Christ and about the ministries in which He has allowed me to serve Him.

I was raised in a military family, and my father retired from the army at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Our home was not a Christian home, but as a twelve-year-old bus kid I began attending a gospel-preaching church. I had no real understanding of the Gospel at that time but thought I was saved. I became active in church, doing whatever I could to help (speaking, teaching Sunday School, running a bus route, leading the singing, visiting, and working around the church). At the age of 19, the Holy Spirit dealt with me regarding my sins and my relationship with Jesus. I realized church activities could not take me to Heaven. On July 19, 1985, during a revival meeting, I bowed my heart to Jesus Christ and became a Christian. Shortly after that, the Lord called me to preach the Gospel.

I attended two colleges: Tennessee Temple University and Georgetown College. In May 1989, I graduated from Georgetown with a degree in mathematics. Five months later, on October 4, 1989, I married my high school sweetheart, Judy Buckles. In March 1993, after much prayer and fasting, the Lord led me, my wife, and two other families to start a new church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. We were sent out by Faith Baptist Church of Cynthiana, Kentucky.

Wayne Matheson Family Crestview Baptist Church

I was the pastor there for fifteen years until, in June 2008; the Holy Spirit moved me and my family to Milton, Florida. Since August 2008, my family and I have been faithful members of Victory Baptist Church in Milton, Florida. In January 2010, again after much prayer and soul searching, I surrendered to be a part of starting Victory Baptist church in Crestview, Florida.

Judy and I have three wonderful children (Hannah, Daniel, and Micah) and look forward to what the Lord will do in Crestview. We are expecting great things from our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
